Marty Walsh supports CPA, real estate tax hike

Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s plan to build affordable housing with a new property tax is likely to drive up rents in the city, real estate experts say — and they doubt it will only hit home­owners to the tune of $28 a year.

Walsh yesterday backed the idea of a property tax increase­ for this November’s ballot, saying the hike is “laser-focused” to boost affordable housing, parks and historic sites.
